A rainy day

Good Morning

It’s very cold here this morning. It’s just stopped raining now but temperature is quite low. Certainly, many of you would laugh at this “cold temperature” . But it is cold for our standards. Anyway, I am posting a photo I took a few days ago right after l left my work.

Winter

Winter has definitely arrived here. It’s been raining quite a lot these days, which is a clear indication that winter’s started. Good change for sure, but it’s quite bad for taking pictures. Anyway, here is a photo I took last Sunday Sunday.

Sunday Morning

These pictures were taken yesterday after work. Yes, I had to work yesterday morning. Anyway, I really thought it wouldn’t be possible to go out for some pictures as the weather’s been so rainy these days. It was good when I finally saw the sunlight for a couple of hours so I just called a friend and we went to this seafood restaurant. The food was delicious and so inexpensive! Not surprisingly, it started raining as soon as I got home. It’s quite rainy today too!

Photographing

Here are some of the pictures I took from the car on my way to Natal some time ago. I was with a good friend who unfortunately passed away shortly after this trip. I did have a whale of a time in Natal city. The place is so beautiful but just as hot as it is here. No surprise since it is in the Northeast part of the country. Those who love photographing I truly recommend the Northeast Part of Brazil, you’ll find  countless different places for pictures, great landscape and very friendly people.

It took us around three hours to get to the first hotel. It was a great hotel and because it wasn’t the peak tourist season it was quite inexpensive too. Photographing is certainly one of my big passions and nothings gives me more pleasure than go out with my camera and spend hours looking for the perfect shot.

Pne more busy day

Checking some old DVDs I have got I found some pictures that were taken a few years ago, in 2010 to be precise. These pictures remind me of lots of fun I had back then. The cameras I used at that time were the now old Sony HX20 and the Panasonic DMC FZ35. For those who don’t remember neither of the cameras, the Sony HX20 was the first superzoom camera to use  CMOS based sensor. Sony tried the Sony G lenses in this camera but soon dropped the idea and replaced recently-added G lenses for the always good Carl Zeiss.  At that time 20x was considered to be excellent. Today, however, we have cameras reaching incredible 50x, including Sony’s new model HX300.

Today

I am planning on buying my new camera. This time this has to be a interchangeable lenses one. But here I face a problem. I need some zoom power as I love photographing birds and wildlife in general. However, The depth of field of a bigger sensor with the right lenses is so beautiful.  Too bad they are very expensive. I have been researching on a substitute for my dear Canon SX40HS which packs a 35x optical zoom which is pretty good but there are some good new cameras with 50x Optical zoom on the market too.

I was really happy when I found out that the Panasonic DMC FZ200 keeps an f2.8 aperture throughout all the zoom ranges, this is brilliant and creates great depth of field that no superzoom camera has at the moment. Thumbs up for the Panasonic engineers! I am anxiously waiting for the DMC FZ200’s successor that Panasonic should announce this year. Despite not having the longest zoom available on the market and being a little out-of-date in terms of zoom power I think this is a good camera that fulfills all my current photographic needs.

Here are some photos I took a while ago.
